CHARLESTON, WV
JANUARY 18-20
Greetings from the Mountaineer State!  This week I have been in Kentucky
and West Virginia.  Overall it has been pretty uneventful.  All three nights
were "hotel gigs" which means not much driving.  It's also been downright cold
and snowy in these mountains and I haven't left the comforts of my room unless
needed.
Thursday night I worked in the small
town of Prestonsburg, KY.  Prestonsburg
is located in the hills about an hour
South-east of Lexington.  The first time
I was here, I didn't have the best show,
but this time was different.  The place
was packed and everyone had a great
time.  On my way out of town I drove
past at least 100 coal trucks waiting to
pick up their loads.  I have never seen
so much coal in my life!
The weekend began in Charleston, WV.
Charleston is the capital of the state and
is located at the confluence of the Elk
and Kanawha Rivers in Kanawha County. The
hotel I was working in is currently being
remodeled but audiences didn't seem to
mind the make-shift microphone and lights.
The lobby was home to a parrot who
entertained me all weekend.  She could
whistle, talk, and even laugh.  That's
more than a few of my ex-girlfriends could
ever do.
It was my first time working in
Charleston and overall things went well.
I didn't sell much merchandise but the
audiences definetly had a good time
anyway.  Everyone was really nice and
appreciative.  To help compensate my
losses, I decided to purchase a Powerball
ticket worth $205 million.  As it turns
out, it wasn't worth jack, but was great
for picking my teeth.  Grrr....

Until next week...
